Your vacation home is waiting!

We have just the place for you.

If you’re looking to get the most out of your vacation to New Smyrna Beach and experience some of the best outdoor attractions you won’t want to miss the Canaveral National Seashore Park.

The full address is S Washington Ave, Titusville, FL 32796. The ecosystem here is well preserved and you are sure to see many threatened and endangered species that have found a safe place to live here. On top of that, Canaveral National Seashore is a historical area with lots to learn about this part of Florida.

Beaches

You can enjoy three of the area’s best beaches right at Canaveral National Seashore: Apollo Beach, Playalinda Beach, and Klondike Beach. These beaches are largely undisturbed and untouched and are a beautiful way to spend a day.

You’ll be able to enjoy the soft sand and sparkling waters, and maybe even see some of the dolphins and manatees that are common in the waters here.

The large grain sand found on these beaches create remarkable giant dunes which make this beach experience one you won’t soon forget. The waters here are also a favorite for surfers, with some occasional rougher waters.

Guided Tours

If you want to get even closer to the action, one of the best ways to explore Canaveral National Seashore is to get right on the water.

One outdoor attraction that allows you to do that is a guided canoe tour on Mosquito Lagoon. The tour traditionally takes place once a month in the Apollo Beach District.

You can check the schedule and make reservations by calling the visitor center. They can be reached at 321-267-1110.

Turtle Mound National Historic Site

The park is located on a barrier island and also includes Turtle Mound National Historic Site. It is one of the most popular things to do if you’re looking for New Smyrna Beach activities.

Turtle Mound is the largest mound of seashells in all of the United States. It’s a fun, unique, and historical area you won’t want to miss, and also includes a hiking trail to take in the sights on foot.

A Turtle Haven

Canaveral National Seashore is also known for its turtle population. Turtles nest and lay eggs on the beaches here during the nesting season months of April through October.

During the season, park rangers will take visitors on guided tours to watch as the turtles lay their eggs at night. It’s an amazing outdoor activity you should consider scheduling your vacation around.

You’ll also find many other creatures in the park in addition to the turtles. This wildlife refuge protects more than a dozen species of endangered or threatened animals. This includes bald eagles, manatees, and more. You might see some of these animals if you explore the park’s trails, so keep your eyes peeled while adventuring here.

Make sure to check out the visitor center at Canaveral National Park. You can learn a lot about animals to keep an eye out for, some of the historical features, and any outdoor activities that may be going on during your visit.

Guided canoe tours are common as well as a Night Sky Exploration Event held January 13th, February 10th, and March 17th to explore the sky for stars, planets, nebula and more with local astronomers.
