The History of Turtle Mound
Turtle Mound is an ancient archaeological site managed by the National Park Service as part of the Canaveral National Seashore. The turtle shaped mound, comprised of oysters and refuse from the prehistoric Timucuan people, measures 50 feet high and 600 feet long and is the largest shell midden in the mainland United States. Added to the US National Register of Historic Places in 1970, the mound can be seen from as far as seven miles out at sea, and was used as a landmark by early Spanish explorers and succeeding sailors. Archeologists have dated Turtle Mound to around 1000 BCE.

Stayed June 2023
I did have to clean the closet door to the a:c as it was coated in a thick layer of dust. But it took me just a few minutes. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, then this is a wonderful place to stay. You can enjoy the beach without leaving the condo. The pool was amazing too!"
